Redrift Station

Redrift Station is a notorious waystation colony hovering in the volatile space near the Orak’kain Expanse. Technically outside the jurisdiction of the Central Directorate, it exists within the realm of the shadow economy—somewhere between survival and obliteration. Uncharted by official aetherway maps and intentionally scrubbed from most commercial nav logs, Redrift serves as a lawless crossroads for criminals, fugitives, smugglers, and those desperate enough to risk anonymity over safety.

What makes Redrift both infamous and, paradoxically, a coveted haven is its total absence of surveillance. There are no GCA patrols. No ID scans. No chip sweeps. Those who dock here do so under cover of silence—and in that silence, many vanish without a trace.

Originally a mining relay built during the early expansion of the Orak’kain rim, the station was long since abandoned by its creators and later overtaken by a rotating syndicate of crime lords, mercenary guilds, and flesh brokers. Its structure is a patchwork of salvage, with corridors that collapse and rebuild themselves depending on which faction controls a given sector.

Gravity is unstable in parts of the station. Power flickers. Air recyclers break down more often than they’re fixed. But none of that matters to the kind of people who call Redrift a temporary home.

Locals and regulars refer to it as “The Sink”—a place where reputations disappear, and people sometimes follow. Still, for many on the run from Directorate justice or even something worse, it’s the only place in the galaxy where you can disappear and keep breathing.

It is whispered about in taverns, cursed in GCA command rooms, and passed between criminals like a talisman. It’s a place where:

  • You don’t ask names.
  • You never travel alone.
  • And if someone knocks on your door in the middle of the night? You pretend you didn’t hear it.

Those who survive Redrift either did so by sheer luck… or because they were just as dangerous as the station itself.

Notable Lore

  • “No Eyes in the Drift” – A phrase often muttered by fugitives. A reminder that Redrift’s greatest strength is its opacity.
  • Orak’kain Rumors suggest the asteroid field shielding the station was seeded with early Orak’kain defense tech—making it almost impossible to track from traditional long-range scans.
  • Shadow Auctions are said to take place deep in the station’s belly, where entire lives are bought and sold without a single record kept.
