Fleckwing

A fleckwing is a tiny, soft-bodied insect notorious for flitting unnoticed through cracks, refuse piles, and warm living spaces across nearly every planet in the Galactic Commons. Named for its delicate, speck-like wings that catch stray light like dust motes, the fleckwing is harmless but endlessly irritating — especially when they cluster near food stores or cling to exposed skin.

Though individually insignificant, a swarm of fleckwings can quickly spoil fresh produce or irritate livestock. Most communities treat them as an unavoidable nuisance, employing basic ultrasonic repellents or fragrant ward-patches to keep them at bay.

Physical Traits:

  • Size: Pinhead-small; wing span barely larger than a thumbnail
  • Color: Pale gray or mottled brown; wings nearly transparent
  • Behavior: Attracted to warmth, moisture, and fermenting waste; slow to react when swatted
  • Lifespan: Only a few days, but reproduce rapidly in warm climates
