Implanted at the base of the neck and fused to the brain via synaptic fibers, identity chips are the core method of surveillance, control, and class enforcement throughout the galaxy. Each chip is biotech-infused, permanently integrated into the user’s neural and bodily systems from the moment of implantation. There are three primary types, each corresponding to a citizen’s class status:
The ICE chip is the most advanced and powerful of the three. Given only to Sovereign-class citizens, it enhances every aspect of their life—mental, financial, social, and even physical.
ICE stands for:
- I – Information: Stores personal data, medical records, credentials, and biometric identifiers.
- C – Credit: Connects to a Sovereign’s GalCred account, tracking their wealth and class rank, and allowing seamless digital transactions.
- E – Enhancement: Grants advanced neural augmentation. Increases memory recall and cognitive speed, provides access to the NeuroLink with full permissions (including override protocols), and overlays real-time augmented reality (AR). It can also scan tattoos of lower classes to retrieve data or trigger punishment functions built into lower-class chips.
The ICE chip represents the height of technocratic privilege—power embedded beneath the skin.
ICICLE Chip (Civica and Gritfolk Classes)
The ICICLE chip is divided into two distinct versions, depending on the user’s class ranking.
Civica Version:
Designed for middle-class citizens, this chip grants some autonomy and convenience—but far less power than its Sovereign counterpart.
ICICLE stands for:
- I – Information: As above, stores identity and medical history.
- C – Credit: Allows for GalCred transactions and reflects limited financial standing.
- I – Inhibition: Can suppress emotional response or rebellious impulses during state interactions.
- C – Communication: Grants restricted NeuroLink access for messaging and limited AR functions.
- L – Location: Tracks all movement in real time.
- E – Erasure: Grants the government the ability to wipe a person’s digital presence—or, in extreme cases, their life.
Gritfolk Version:
This version is more sinister, built for compliance and control, not convenience.
ICICLE (Gritfolk) includes:
- I – Information
- C – Credit (limited use—most Gritfolk live below the minimum balance threshold)
- I – Inhibition
- C – Compliance: Allows authorities to trigger pain responses, behavioral conditioning, or neurological shutdowns remotely. Forced obedience is its core purpose.
- L – Location
- E – Erasure
The Gritfolk ICICLE chip is a digital leash—surveillance weaponized.
COLD Chip (Subjugate/Slave Class)
The COLD chip is issued to Subjugates, used to keep enslaved Aekosi in total submission. It is the most brutal of the three chips and has no personal benefit—only control.
COLD stands for:
- C – Compliance: Directly interfaces with the nervous system to ensure instant obedience.
- O – Ownership: Contains the name and ID of the slave’s owner and purpose, and stores basic health data for efficient resource management.
- L – Location: Tracks all movement and triggers alerts if the Subjugate moves outside their permitted range.
- D – Deterrence: Allows immediate punishment or execution via pain induction, paralysis, or complete neurological override.
COLD chips are not only permanent but purposefully cruel—designed to strip the Aekosi of freedom, agency, and even their thoughts.
Chip, Tattoos, & Class Visibility
Each chip type corresponds to a visible neck tattoo, color-coded to indicate class at a glance:
- Gold for Sovereign (ICE)
- Green for Civica (ICICLE)
- Red for Gritfolk (ICICLE)
- Black for Subjugates (COLD)
Subjugate tattoos are uniquely applied via scarification, since traditional tattoos are rejected by the regenerative properties of Aekosi skin.
NeuroLink Integration
ICE and ICICLE chips (Civica version only) include access to NeuroLink, a neural communication and augmented reality interface. Sovereigns have unrestricted access, allowing them to access live surveillance feeds, override lesser chips, and even initiate punishments. Civica access is limited—used primarily for communication and AR overlays, but not for system override or tattoo scanning. Gritfolk and Subjugates have no access whatsoever.
Enforcement & Exploitation
Chips are a tool of surveillance and subjugation, enabling the Central Directorate to monitor, control, and erase anyone deemed a threat. They also form the backbone of a shadow economy where chips are hacked, forged, or repurposed—by resistance factions, rogue techs, and black-market jack crews.
But no matter how sophisticated the chip, one truth remains:
Control embedded beneath the skin can still be broken… if the will to fight is strong enough.
