King’s Guard

The King’s Guard once served as the elite protective force sworn to defend the royal family of Aekos. Composed of the most skilled and loyal Aekosi warriors, healers, and strategists, the Guard was both a symbol of unshakable strength and a bastion of sacred duty. Members underwent rigorous physical and mental training, often starting as apprentices in childhood and rising through the ranks by demonstrating unwavering service and tactical brilliance.

The Sundering WarAt its peak, the King’s Guard was led by a small inner circle of high-ranking officers, the most prestigious of which was the First Sentinel—a title earned by only one at a time. That honor belonged to Wolfred Alzareth during the final years of the great war, whose name remains etched in legend for his unparalleled leadership and fierce loyalty.

Though the Guard was officially disbanded after the fall of Aekos and the capture or slaughter of much of its population, the spirit of the order lives on. A handful of survivors—those who escaped the war with their lives and their freedom—still serve the royal family from the shadows. No longer bound by ranks or formal titles, these loyalists continue to protect the bloodline of Aekos, guarding the scattered embers of their legacy with a devotion forged in fire.

In the compounds where free Aekosi now live in secret, the old bonds endure. The King’s Guard may no longer wear their crests, but they carry their oaths in every breath. To them, the fall of the kingdom didn’t erase their duty—it made it sacred.
