Obsidigen Wires

Obsidigen wires are a rare, reactive alloy used primarily in analog restraint devices throughout the shadow economy—most notably in thornlace bands. Forged from a blend of dark-forged metals and biologically integrated micro-spines, obsidigen is known for its ability to “remember” its coiled state and respond dynamically to electrical stimulation or keyed signal pulses.

When activated, the bio-thorns embedded along the length of the wire extend inward, piercing the flesh of the wearer. The severity of the pain can be modulated through analog control dials or keyed remotes, making it a favored tool among slavers who prefer low-tech, untraceable means of submission.

Unlike tech tied to the Central Directorate’s surveillance grid—such as COLD chips—obsidigen-based restraints leave no digital footprint. This has made the alloy highly valuable on the black market, where it is typically smelted and distributed in secret by independent forgers or former tech salvagers with ties to Sovereign scrapyards.

Obsidigen wire is most often used in:

  • Thornlace bands: worn at the neck, wrists, and ankles to enforce obedience through pain
  • Containment cuffs: shackles with built-in punishment triggers
  • Analog shock lattices: hidden grids used to trap or incapacitate

Highly durable and notoriously difficult to remove once embedded into a restraint system, obsidigen wires represent a chilling fusion of cruelty and ingenuity—one that thrives in the lawless corners of the galaxy, far from the eyes of justice.
