A synthetic, lab-engineered alternative to natural stone, designed for affordability and ease of production rather than longevity. Lightweight yet brittle, it’s commonly used in Gritfolk territories for building facades, walkways, and structural cladding. Over time—and especially under poor maintenance—it fractures into jagged shards, creating hazardous debris in alleys and communal spaces. Synth-stone is also porous, absorbing moisture that fosters creeping fungal growths in its seams, giving many lower-class districts their damp, decaying appearance.
