The Royal Family of Aekos was once the beating heart of Aekosi civilization—an enduring symbol of strength, leadership, and sacred legacy. Chosen by tradition and upheld through centuries of cultural reverence, the royal lineage was entrusted with the stewardship of the planet and its people, ruling not by divine right, but through ancestral duty and sacred bond.
The last reigning monarchs before the fall of Aekos were King Basilius Thalorian and his bondmate, Queen Gaia Shanree, a rare pairing in royal history whose love transcended the political arrangement that first brought them together. Unlike many of their predecessors—whose bonds remained ceremonial and emotionally distant—Basilius and Gaia discovered true connection through their forced match, forming a powerful and deeply sacred union that helped solidify their rule.
The couple had two sons:
- Crown Prince Daerion Thalorian, the firstborn and rightful heir to the throne, disappeared without a trace at the age of fifteen. His abduction shattered the royal family and left a painful void in the line of succession. His fate remains unknown—whether he lives or died in captivity is still a mystery.
- Prince Shayde Thalorian, born twenty-five years after Daerion’s disappearance, has since taken up the mantle of Acting Crown Prince in his brother’s absence. While Shayde has always honored the memory of his older sibling, he also carries the heavy burden of being perceived as a “replacement,” a role thrust upon him by duty rather than destiny.
Historically, the firstborn royal child, regardless of gender, was designated as the future monarch. Upon their birth, they would be promised to another Aekosi child of aristocratic lineage. This royal betrothal was the only known exception to Aekosi custom that otherwise held sacred the concept of consensual bonding. While many of these arranged pairings resulted in distant, political unions, Basilius and Gaia defied the odds by forming a rare and true sacred bond—one that would serve as an inspiration to many.
The King’s Guard, a legendary protective force loyal to the royal bloodline, once served under the Thalorian reign. Though disbanded after Aekos fell, many surviving members—like the First Sentinel, Wolfred Alzareth—still remain fiercely devoted to the Thalorian family, offering protection from the shadows.
Though their palace now lies in ruin and their planet lost to history, whispers of the Thalorian line live on among the free Aekosi. In their resilience, and in the sons they raised, hope flickers still—that one day, a Thalorian may rise again.
