A veildemon is a malevolent, semi-sentient spiritual corruption believed to slip through the Noxveil, the hidden boundary separating the mortal plane from the tangled depths of broken thoughts, lost echoes, and rejected truths.
In Luminal Creed doctrine, veildemons are not physical beasts but coalesced shadows born from betrayal, forbidden oaths, and uncontained soulflare. They feed on fractured minds and weakened faith, drawn to emotional wounds like moths to flame. To the faithful, they are both a cautionary tale and a test of spiritual fortitude.
Origins:
- According to Creed scholars, veildemons are thoughtforms that took shape during the Sundering War when countless Aekosi bonds were shattered and countless prayers went unanswered. Each breach in the collective spiritual fabric made the Noxveil thinner — and invited the hungry dark within.
- Some heretics claim veildemons are remnants of corrupted sparks of Luma, too twisted to return to the Great Luminance.
Behavior:
- Whisper to the weak-minded, amplifying doubt, despair, and betrayal.
- Manifest as fleeting shadows, disturbing visions, or mind-bending illusions.
- Cannot exist long without a host — they crave human thoughts and memories to root themselves.
