Augnail

An augnail is a small, modular fastener widely used in construction, ship hull maintenance, and general repairs throughout the Galactic Commons. Unlike traditional nails or bolts, augnails are embedded with micro-circuitry and adjustable locking coils that allow them to self-thread into a wide variety of materials—from standard alloys to adaptive bio-composite panels.

Once driven or pressed into place, an augnail’s internal circuit board synchronizes with local maintenance grids or tool NeuroLinks, logging placement data and structural stress metrics in real time. This makes them invaluable for rapid repairs in unstable environments, orbital rigs, or hull patching during spacewalks.

Physical Traits:

  • Size: Similar to a standard nail or rivet, but with a more angular, tech-sculpted head.
  • Core: Reinforced micro-fiber core with a spiraled auto-lock coil.
  • Tip: Variable-point geometry for piercing different densities.
  • Circuit Board: Miniaturized chip embedded under the head, stores position & torque data.
