Hyperbeast

Native Zone: Originally bred in off-world containment fields near the Orak’kain frontier; now feral in unregulated zones and low-surveillance planets.

Overview:
The hyperbeast is a genetically-modified, high-yield creature designed during the early expansion of the Galactic Commons for use in frontier colonies lacking access to sustainable protein sources. Towering over traditional livestock, hyperbeasts were bioengineered to grow rapidly, survive on minimal resources, and produce dense, nutrient-rich muscle tissue.

Physical Traits:
Hyperbeasts resemble a hybrid of horned quadruped and exoskeletal predator. Their hides are dark, often charcoal gray or bluish-black, with ridged plating along the spine and shoulders. Their muscular structure is unnaturally dense, and when properly harvested, yields several times the protein output of a standard livestock kill. They emit low-frequency growls and possess bioluminescent gland traces near the neck and chest, a leftover marker from early corporate branding efforts.

Meat Profile:
Hyperbeast meat is rich, dark, and slightly gamey, with a chewy texture that softens when slow-cooked or pressure-steamed. The protein is unusually iron-rich, and hyperbeast cuts tend to “sweat” a slight reddish shimmer due to residual metabolic enhancers embedded in the creature’s DNA.

Because of its intense density, a little hyperbeast meat goes a long way—making it a sought-after trade good among fugitives, Free Traders, and Gritfolk alike.
